The Project Manager will be ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of the utilities diversion project from inception to completion. This includes overseeing all aspects of planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of utility infrastructure, extensive experience in managing large-scale civil engineering projects, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership & Management: Lead, motivate, and manage the project team, including internal staff, contractors, and consultants. Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure adherence to project scope, quality standards, and contractual obligations. Manage change control processes effectively. Prepare and present regular project reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including utility providers, local authorities, regulatory bodies, clients, and landowners. Foster strong collaborative relationships to facilitate effective project delivery. Manage public and community relations as required, addressing concerns and maintaining positive engagement. Lead and facilitate regular project meetings and workshops.
  • Technical Oversight & Coordination: Work closely with design teams to ensure optimal and compliant utility diversion solutions. Oversee the technical aspects of the project, including design reviews, engineering challenges, and construction methodologies. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, codes of practice, and health, safety, and environmental regulations. Coordinate interfaces between various utility networks and other construction activities.
  • Commercial & Financial Management: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow. Oversee procurement processes for contractors, suppliers, and consultants. Manage contracts, variations, and claims effectively. Ensure financial reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Risk & SHE Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks. Champion a strong safety culture and ensure rigorous adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Develop and implement emergency response plans as necessary.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management within the infrastructure sector. Demonstrable experience managing large-scale utilities diversion projects (or similar complex civil infrastructure projects with significant utility interfaces). Proven experience working with multiple utility providers and understanding their technical requirements and processes. Experience managing projects with significant budgets.
