Where will you be working? At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK. We don’t just build roads and bridges- we’re building a better future, creating lasting social value that gives back to the communities in which we work. You’ll be joining our Highways Maintenance Transport Planning team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.
What you’ll be doing: Do you enjoy being a leader? You’ll lead the delivery of business cases and transport studies, modelling using AIMSUN, PTV VISUM and SATURN, and economic appraisal using TUBA, COBALT, and the Active Mode Appraisal Toolkit. Have you been a manager in a previous role? You’ll be a line manager and provide training to junior members of the Transport Planning Team. Are you experienced in Stakeholder management? You’ll lead on small – medium sized Transport Planning projects and coordinate multi-disciplinary input from colleagues, consultants, and stakeholders where necessary. Do you have attention to detail? You’ll undertake Quality Assurance reviews on work undertaken by Transport Planners and Assistant Transport Planners, as well as consultants. You’ll establish strong client relationships. Can you work towards deadlines? You’ll be responsible for delivery of work to time, cost and in line with quality expectations.
What you’ll bring: You’ll be proficient in strategic (SATURN or VISSIM) and/or microsimulation transport modelling (Aimsun or Vissim) and local junction modelling (Junctions 10/11 and Linsig). You’ll be proficient in using TUBA, COBALT, and the Active Mode Appraisal Toolkit for economic appraisal. You’ll be proficient in GIS (ESRI or QGIS). You’ll provide input into successful Transport Business Cases. You’ll have experience using active travel design assistance and scheme review tools and applying design principles contained within Manual for Streets, DMRB, LTN 1/20, and Inclusive Mobility. You’ll have experience working directly with clients and on behalf of local authorities.
