We are looking to recruit a flexible, outgoing, motivated, positive, energetic individual to join our team in a hands-on position of Duty Manager. We seek someone who is team-oriented, ambitious, and eager to progress their career in a fun and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to coach and lead our team positively, and maintain a successful operation.

As Duty Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of the facility, ensuring our venues are safe, clean, and welcoming. You will be responsible for upholding high standards, creating positive experiences, ensuring services run smoothly, and that the centre complies with health and safety regulations. You should be customer-focused, a role model for team members, and proactive in suggesting improvements to enhance the leisure and physical activity experience in the district.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the facility is adequately staffed to provide excellent customer service according to the daily programme.
  • Communicate the daily plan to all team members and ensure objectives are met.
  • Coordinate equipment setup and takedown to ensure smooth activities without inconvenience to customers.
  • Engage regularly with customers and staff to understand their needs through feedback and dialogue.
  • Utilize communication channels effectively to maintain high standards and assist during busy periods by stepping into different departments.
  • Organize staff rotas and cover, ensuring staffing levels meet programme requirements and budget constraints.
  • Review and approve weekly timesheets and additional hours against rotas and sign-in/out logs.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, training, development, and performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Monitor daily cleaning routines to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
  • Ensure all team members understand and adhere to health and safety responsibilities, including participation in refresher training.
  • Conduct daily building safety checks and take necessary actions to prevent accidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor pool water quality and conditions, advising management of any necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure regular pool maintenance and address system failures promptly.
  • Maximize revenue by ensuring facilities are open, safe, and clean for customers as per the schedule.
  • Handle membership inquiries, including new memberships, suspensions, cancellations, and meeting membership targets.
  • Coordinate swim school activities, including registration, payments, lesson scheduling, and cancellations.
