The role: Material Buyer (AOG Desk)
Shift pattern - 4 on 4 off (2 days/2 nights) 12 hrs
When you join British Airways as Material Buyer you will be working to deliver exceptional material operational support for all critical/AOG material issues to meet customer requirements through the 24-Hour Desk team. Responsible for sourcing, placing of purchase orders and handling and distributing shortages to enable effective and timely resolution.
What you’ll do:
- You will work directly with our aircraft component and logistics providers across the world to ensure excellent and consistent supplier performance to meet the business needs.
- Ensures high-quality communication takes place with all stakeholders, suppliers and customers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prioritisation, planning and organisation of both individual and team tasks as part of set objectives, ensuring that all reporting lines are adhered to and relevant departmental, team and individual objectives are fulfilled.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident in influencing and communicating with customers, both internal and external.
- Good financial acumen, commercial skills and awareness.
- Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Your Experience:
- Education to Level 2 (or educational equivalent).
- Good knowledge of BA Engineering IT systems, including EWS/SAP.
- Good awareness of Airworthiness Requirements with a good understanding of those requirements relating to component documentation.
- Supplier management experience.
