Role Overview: We’re currently recruiting for a Manager, Second Line Assurance to join HSBC’s Risk & Compliance function. This is a pivotal role within the Second Line of Defence, focused on delivering high-quality assurance reviews across a wide range of non-financial risks. You’ll be responsible for independently planning, leading, and executing assurance reviews in line with global standards, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of risk management and control frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assurance or audit professional to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and evolving risk environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assurance reviews aligned with global Assurance Principles and Standards (APAS).
- Apply professional judgement to assess risk identification and control effectiveness.
- Produce high-quality documentation and reports with minimal quality control issues.
- Communicate findings clearly and engage with stakeholders across the business.
- Escalate significant control failings to senior management promptly.
- Collaborate with 1LoD, Internal Audit, and wider Risk teams.
- Contribute to process improvements and represent 2LA on project initiatives.
- Support senior management through the preparation of committee-level MI.
Required Experience:
Essential:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven experience in assurance, audit, or risk functions (1LoD/2LoD).
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Organised, methodical, and able to work under pressure.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of regional regulatory environments and assurance/audit methodologies.
- Experience working in a complex financial services institution.
