National Energy System Operator (NESO) recognises the potential of bright and talented individuals, and we encourage you to join us as Great Britain’s energy system undergoes an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. We are looking for x3 Resilience Analyst / Engineers (one on a FTC) to be part of the growing Resilience and Emergency Management Directorate. This exciting opportunity will allow the post holder to understand and assess the most significant risks to the energy system, and work with Government and industry to mitigate them. From climate change to space weather, new technologies to supply chains, you will be instrumental in driving forward changes to the energy system that will minimise the impact of energy disruptions. Join us and you won’t just be touching the lives of almost everyone in Great Britain – you will be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come. This role can be based from Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow or London, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the delivery of a programme of work to identify and assess existing and emerging risks to the energy system.
  • Develop methodologies and tools to assess the likelihood and impacts of these risks, as well as the effectiveness of current mitigations.
  • Analyse and assess data from a variety of sources.
  • Use your findings to develop proportionate and actionable recommendations to improve the resilience of the energy system to these risks.
  • Communicate your findings and recommendations in a concise and easy to understand manner.
  • Liaise across other NESO functions to ensure that system risks and resilience are understood and integrated into their work.
  • Build strong and close relationships across Government, industry and other stakeholders to deliver your portfolio of work.
  • Represent the NESO at internal and external groups and forums.

  • Is comfortable with dealing with uncertainty and knowledge gaps in policy making.
  • Is a strong communicator with excellent writing skills.

What you’ll get

A competitive salary between £52,000 - £60,000pa – dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
