A Principal Designer is required to join a Building Design Consultancy. The company are one of the largest multi-discipline building design consultancies in the North of England. They offer a broad range of services in Building Surveying, Civil & Structural, Highways and Drainage Engineering, and more.
Principal Designer Benefits:
- Salary – Between £40,000 – £50,000 per year, dependent on experience

Principal Designer Role:
- Prepare pre-construction information to present to the rendering contractors
- Attend design team meetings, review designs and identify foreseeable hazards and issues
- Offer solutions and guidance to any of the designers’ issues
- Review designers’ compliance with their responsibilities under CDM2015
- Prepare pre-construction information and issue this to tendering contractors
- Prepare and issue F10 Notifications
- Co-ordinate and prepare Health & Safety Files
- Give CDM advice to designers, contractors and clients
Principal Designer Requirements:
- Hold a recognised design qualification
- NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate
- A member of the APS / IOSH or equivalent professional body
- Have working knowledge of CDM2015 and associated guidance (L153)
- Significant experience in a CDM Advisory / PD role
- Understanding of the construction and design processes
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite of programmes
- Hold a full UK driving licence – some travel may be involved
