YASA is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer to work within our Supplier Technical Assistance team. As the Senior Resident Engineer, you will represent Supplier Quality within our manufacturing facility in Yarnton. You will manage the critical interfaces between Plant Quality and Purchasing for components in series production, acting as the single point of contact from SQA into Plant Quality.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing improvement plans for any suppliers escalated to CSL1 (first level of performance escalation).
  • Authorising and managing supplier-relevant engineering changes in series (plan, deliver).
  • Raising and managing supplier NCR’s/8D’s, ensuring the timely and effective implementation of preventative actions and closure of investigations.
  • Working closely with Purchasing, SQA, Commodity Engineers and Plant Quality to ensure the consistent supply of components.
  • Conducting analysis of, and reporting KPIs for supplier quality incidents to senior management.
  • Leading the monthly ISQM (Incoming Supplier Quality Meeting).
  • Supporting Lessons Learned activities for new products.
  • Managing the requirements for all suppliers’ annual re-qualification.
  • Undertaking other additional duties that may be required from time to time as determined by the company.

To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need:

  • Minimum HNC/Degree in Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience gained in an automotive supply chain quality environment, preferably in high volume manufacturing business to set the right standard.
  • Strong experience in Problem Solving.
  • An understanding of interpreting engineering drawings.
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Good planning and prioritising skills.
  • Working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans).
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, process capability and problem resolution tools (8D, 5 Why, 6 Sigma etc.) and techniques.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment.
  • UK driving license with the ability to travel as required.

Though not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have:

  • Experience of auditing both internal and supplier processes.
  • Experience of development programmes, Pareto, PFMEA or similar continuous improvement initiatives to drive quality improvements.
