Mechanical Construction Engineer Location: 1st Floor West, Vinci Building, Sellafield Complex, Seascale, Cumbria, CA20 1PG, GBR Project: Sellafield Pay Rate: GBP500/day (Outside IR35) Start Date: 14th October 2024 Duration: Until May 2025 Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day Are you an experienced Mechanical Construction Engineer with a background in nuclear licensed sites? We are looking for a skilled professional to join our Sellafield project team to oversee the mechanical construction work. If you have previous experience on a nuclear site, have worked with shield doors, Gamma gates, or EOTC Cranes, and have strong leadership skills, this could be the role for you. Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical engineering activities on Sellafield projects, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Manage and supervise a small team of supervisors, blue-collar operatives, and sub-contractors on-site. Oversee the installation of mechanical systems, including bogey & rail systems, shield doors, Gamma gates, and Kuka robots in a nuclear environment. Work closely with project teams to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. Follow construction drawings, technical specifications, and ensure that work adheres to Sellafield procedures. Ensure the safe operation of mechanical systems on site and compliance with IOSH Managing Safely standards. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering (minimum HNC). Experience fulfilling a mechanical engineering role in construction, preferably in a nuclear licenced environment. Proven ability to manage teams, including supervisors, operatives, and sub-contractors. IOSH Managing Safely qualification. Experience working with shield doors, Gamma gates, Kuka robots, and bogey & rail systems is highly desirable. Previous experience working with EOTC Cranes is an advantage. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage tasks and responsibilities effectively on-site. Holder of a valid competency card.
