Reporting to the Engineering Test Manager, the Engineering Test Technician is responsible for in-depth testing of new and legacy products to the highest standard, maintenance & calibration (to UKAS standard) of all department equipment and assisting senior engineers on larger projects when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical tests and investigations on a range of new and legacy products using equipment such as Virtual Network Analysers, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies (including HV), DMMs, and more.
- Write C++ code in Visual Studio to automate tests.
- Produce detailed test reports of new products and organise results for future viewing.
- Communicate with various departments to resolve any issues discovered during testing.
- Solder cables/connectors used for testing, replacing and fault finding of faulty and/or missing components.
- Organise and ensure all department equipment is calibrated to UKAS standards and records maintained, liaising with the external calibration house to organise equipment calibration, arrange a courier and keep calibration certificates organised in our calibration system.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Minimum BTEC level 3 / A Levels in engineering discipline, ideally with a high electronic content or experience in a similar role.
- Experience: Ability to fault find down to component level, experienced in using a range of test equipment, DMMs, Network Analyzers, ATE, Oscilloscopes, previous experience in an engineering position.
- Skills/Competencies: Understanding of electronic principles, creative and forward thinking.
