General Summary
The Respiratory Therapist performs all respiratory care duties, including setting up and administering routine and complex procedures for patients of all ages, as prescribed by a physician. Responsibilities include managing ventilators, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Review patient charts, verify prescriptions, and administer respiratory therapies including artificial airways and non-invasive ventilation.
- Prioritise and manage care efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
- Recommend therapies, document procedures, and communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff.
- Assess and monitor therapies for neonates, assist with procedures like intubations and extubations, and respond to urgent situations such as codes and rapid responses.
- Work across all areas of respiratory care, troubleshoot equipment, and follow safety and regulatory procedures.
- Document all procedures accurately and timely, perform quality control, and analyse blood gas samples as per policy.
- Perform other duties within scope as assigned.
Minimum Education, Credentials, and Experience:
Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy, with current Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials, license, and certifications including BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS. Experience preferred: 6 months. Bachelorβs degree and additional experience are considered a plus.
