Principal Mechanical Process Engineers – 6-Month+ Contract (Hybrid, UK)

Belcan Workforce Solutions are currently seeking experienced Principal Mechanical Process Engineers to support a confidential project in the UK with a leading UK-based engineering and construction consultancy. This is a 6-month contract position, with strong potential for extension, offered on a hybrid basis—3 days per week on-site and the remainder remote.

This role falls Inside IR35.

To be considered, candidates must have substantial experience within the Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical sectors.

As our client’s engineering team continues to grow and secure exciting new projects, we are looking for several contract Principal Mechanical Process Engineers to join their collaborative, innovative, and supportive team.

In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects. These range from the recovery and repurposing of existing assets to the design and installation of new systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the mechanical lead on assigned projects
• Develop mechanical engineering design deliverables, including calculations, datasheets, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules
• Participate in safety, constructability, and risk assessment reviews
• Review and approve mechanical deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards and client requirements
• Evaluate vendor quotations and coordinate with equipment and package vendors
• Specify and evaluate utility systems and their capacities
• Review piping design documents, including isometrics and layout drawings
• Contribute to plant layout development

Requirements:

Essential:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Extensive experience in the Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical industry
• Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams

Desirable:

• Chartered Engineer status
• A proactive, innovative mindset with a strong focus on client satisfaction
