The Role: The Maritime Operations Co-ordinator role is a full-time position for a driven and pro-active person with exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. Working to commission, maintain and operate Subsea Craft products, you will work closely with the following areas of SSC:

  • Dive Team and craft test pilots
  • Engineering and Controls teams
  • Health and Safety and Environment
  • Through Life Capability Management and Training

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Reporting to Trials, you will be responsible for executing commissioning maintenance and trials activities, across multiple sites.
  • Production of detailed and articulate trials documentation.
  • Coordinating logistics with craft and trials requirements, including but not limited to transportation, lifting and craning, container movements, and marine operations.
  • Providing input to risk assessments and method statements for trials tasks; you must have a good understanding of industry HSE practices relevant to job role.
  • Certification of life saving equipment and LOLER compliant equipment and maintenance of up-to-date records via the company quality management system.
  • Maintaining workshop and trials site housekeeping to a high level, ensuring a safe, clean and tidy environment.
  • Verbal and written communication to pass information clearly and accurately across the company.
  • Being a team player, whilst also demonstrating the ability to work independently and within a small team.
  • Co-ordinating and completion of vessel maintenance tasks across our fleet.
  • Carry out commissioning and quality control activities, including fault finding.

Required Qualifications, attributes, and experience:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Hold suitable tickets and qualifications to enable safe and efficient trials to take place in sheltered and offshore waters.
  • Capable of helming various high speed small craft suitable for conducting trials as demonstrated by RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence or equivalent.
  • Commercially endorsed or have the ability to be commercially endorsed as a RYA Advanced Powerboat or higher.
  • Exceptional background in marine engineering to be able to complete vessel maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Fully familiar with permit to work systems, isolation procedures and safety management systems.
  • Good understanding of LOLER compliance.
  • Have the ability to meet set deadlines and to understand when problems need to be referred up through your chain of command.
  • Have the ability to organise and present information clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • The ability to take initiative without guidance.
  • IT Proficient – Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams.
  • A goal-oriented mindset and good organisational skills.
  • Collaborative and proactive / 'can-do’ working style.

Desirable:

  • Experience operating uncrewed surface vehicles.
  • MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship) Qualified.
  • Experience operating RPAS/UAVs.
  • Experience with diving operations.
  • Overhead lifting and slinging qualification.
  • Forklift qualification.
  • Appointed Person: Lifting Operations (APLO) Qualification.
  • Experience of Emergency Response Management.
  • Experience of supporting Diving Operations.
  • NVQ Marine Engineer or higher.

Working Conditions: The role will primarily be based in the SubSea Craft office in Portsmouth, UK, with travel to the Portland facility in Dorset during trials and trials preparations. The position may involve work in a manufacturing environment and at sea during trials, which may present physical challenges and require adherence to safety protocols.

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.
