This Havering, London primary school has a well-established SEND unit, which opened in 2020 supporting children with ASD and social and communication needs. The purpose of their provision is to provide more specialised support for pupils to ensure they access their curriculum and make good progress against their starting points. They are seeking to employ an experienced primary teacher with expertise in supporting children with a range of special needs, particularly ASD, Social Communication and ADHD. You will work alongside the unit lead and support in managing and deploying their team of LSAs, share support, advice and strong SEND knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS and have experience teaching primary children is a must
  • Have experience teaching children with SEN - this can be in a mainstream or SEN school
  • Be confident in using your knowledge and passion of current theory and practice in teaching, learning & SEN
  • Be adaptive and seek solutions in supporting children with high needs
  • Utilise the benefits of a curriculum that is innovative and flexible in terms of content and delivery. This is likely to include a bespoke curriculum that meets the needs of a variety of learners
  • Be creative in your teaching
  • Put the children at the centre of teaching and learning
  • Play a part in the life of the school and be able to develop positive relationships with the pupils to ensure they are the best they can be
