The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

This role is to maintain and develop SSTL’s satellite manufacturing and operational facilities across our seven sites. The role will develop and manage projects in an evolving organisation from new facilities and capabilities to drive the business to a net carbon zero company.

Key Tasks

  • Monitor and maintain all facilities, utilities and site services across SSTL’s sites, ensuring they retain high availability and operational order including our high specification large clean rooms.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance and lifecycle schedules for key plant and facilities.
  • Monitor, respond to and manage breakdowns and alarms.
  • Carry out emergency repairs or adjustments to avoid callouts of specialist services or mitigate any deterioration of a fault situation whilst waiting for specialists to attend.
  • Take responsibility for the design, estimation, planning, management, and sign off a wide range of electrical, mechanical and civil enhancements to SSTL’s various facilities.
  • Plan, supervise, monitor and verify works carried out by sub-contractors, which can sometimes be out of normal hours.
  • Supervise delivery, positioning, relocation and integration of new plant and equipment.
  • Review and maintain maintenance logs and budgets, completing any necessary documentation.
  • Observe, maintain, audit and advise on Health and Safety Standards and procedures in accordance with established company policy.
  • Manage and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with established COSHH and REACH regulations.
  • Develop and manage risk assessments for activities carried out.
  • Develop technologies and solutions for the business to reduce energy consumption and move the company towards being carbon neutral.
  • Provide out of hours support for the sites and facilities.

Previous Experience

  • Proven experience in the construction industry or in facilities management for delivering essential support services.
  • Proven practical skills or trade experience.
  • Appropriate background in general building construction and services maintenance projects.
  • Flexible and willing approach to any kind of task necessary in the pursuit of the company’s business activities.
  • Experienced and competent with a wide range of mechanical and electrical services and equipment, especially with troubleshooting.
  • Skilled with mechanical & electrical tools and test equipment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Higher National Diploma or equivalent basic degree level in an engineering or facilities related discipline preferable.
  • Proven relevant work experience in facilities management in construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Nebosh Diploma or IOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health would be advantageous.
  • A full driving licence – required for travel between sites.
  • Ability to attain a Security Clearance.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, able to influence, persuade and negotiate with people at all levels.
  • High degree of organisation, self-motivation and initiative, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to interface with customers and technical representatives.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Pro-active and able to take initiative.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects.
  • Decision making and creative problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver solutions under pressure and to tight timescales.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
  • Able to demonstrate company mindsets and behaviours; be accountable, drive & delivery, communicate effectively, self-manage effectively, work as one team.
