This role involves shaping the commercial success of inspiring infrastructure projects as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. As part of our Regional Civils, you will have a track record in managing all costs relating to civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Your focus will be on minimising project costs and enhancing value for money while achieving the required standards and quality. Typically, you will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB, with experience in managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff and mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.
This 2-year project will be working on Sub Stations based in Avonmouth. Full site presence is necessary each day, along with a strong civils background and experience of managing a small team of surveyors.
What you’ll be doing:
- Analytical Thinking & Decision Making
- Cost Engineering: Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
- Estimating: Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates with 3rd parties
- Planning: Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location, assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
- Project Management: Monitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately, analyses the commercial progress and reports to senior project staff
- Procurement: Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes, prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
- Commercial Management: Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events as required, prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required, prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
- Development, Recruitment and Retention: Maintains own Personal Development Plan, actively supports the development of others, produces plans for team to achieve goals/aspirations, supports recruitment of lower grades
