About Midnight: IOG's Midnight Tribe is a business technology provider and core contributor to the Midnight Network, a blockchain platform for developing decentralized applications that safeguard personal and commercial data. The Midnight Network is the first blockchain to offer programmable data isolation by leveraging zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to enable selective disclosure of what information is visible on-chain and is designed to help developers implement necessary business policies, such as meeting regulatory requirements.
What the role involves: Join the team behind Midnight - the blockchain that safeguards sensitive commercial and personal data - as a Senior UX Researcher, and help protect fundamental freedoms of association, commerce, and expression for developers, companies, and individuals. You will lead end-to-end research initiatives that dive deep into customer and user needs across our privacy-preserving products. Your data, insights and recommendations will inform the team's decisions and help Midnight deliver meaningful, valuable and useful user experiences.
- As part of Midnight's Product Design team, the Senior UX Researcher helps represent the voice of the customer and user throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with Product, Marketing, Developer Relations, and Engineering to turn uncertainty into opportunity.
- Collaborates with Product to define research goals, plans, and success metrics for both strategic and tactical product work.
- Leads and conducts mixed-methods research, including qualitative interviews, usability testing, surveys, and behavioral data analysis.
- Translates research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that influence product strategy and design decisions.
- Builds research frameworks and artifacts such as personas, journey maps, and mental models that drive shared understanding and empathy.
- Works closely with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize research questions and align research efforts with business and product goals.
- Champions a culture of research, user advocacy, and continuous discovery across teams.
- Develops and maintains a repository of insights and research artifacts to ensure cumulative learning across products and squads.
- Partners with Developer Relations and Marketing to understand developer and user needs throughout the full lifecycle of engagement.
- Evaluates the ethical and privacy implications of research activities and product features, with a strong understanding of data protection principles.
- Contributes to the evolution of Midnight's research operations, tooling, and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Design, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on UX research experience in blockchain, Web3, SaaS, or complex technical domains.
- Passionate about Web3, data protection solutions and people's freedoms of association, commerce and expression, with an understanding of the implications for user research.
- Expertise in planning and executing end-to-end research projects that influence product and design outcomes.
- Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the skill to choose the right method for the right question.
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams.
- Able to distill complex concepts into clear narratives and visualizations that drive clarity and alignment.
- Able to handle multiple work streams.
- Able to work with research tools like Dovetail, Miro, Figma, UserTesting, or equivalent.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including storytelling and presenting insights to a range of audiences.
- You are curious, humble and open to new and different perspectives in a fast-evolving space.
