Are you a mechanical engineer with a passion for precision design and innovation? We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of mechanical enclosures and components for high performance maritime and defence applications. This role offers the chance to work on technically complex systems alongside multidisciplinary teams, from initial concept through to production handover.
What You’ll Do
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and produce high quality manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Take the technical lead on mechanical design work across projects
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and environmental standards
- Participate in design reviews and follow structured design lifecycle procedures
- Identify opportunities for design and process improvements across the business
- Contribute to future product strategy and technical proposals
What You’ll Bring
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor/SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- Hands on experience with design for manufacture including fabrications, castings, welding, and coatings
- Sound understanding of materials and structural performance
- Familiarity with design for challenging conditions such as shock, thermal extremes, and EMC
- Experience working within formal design processes including phase gates and peer reviews
- A proactive mindset with strong communication and teamworking skills
