Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands, and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and looking to complement, scale and grow our R&D facilities in Abingdon and Coventry with the brightest minds from within the battery and EV sector.

Our battery technology roadmap is based on a foundation of world-class solutions for multiple applications. Collaborating with our technical partners, we are industrialising best-in-class high energy density and long-lasting battery cells. We are also committed to developing the next generation of battery technologies.

We are recruiting for an experienced Corporate Development Analyst to join our Corporate Development and Corporate Strategy team. You will be responsible for providing commercial, partnership and M&A insights in support of our strategy. You will be often working with incomplete information and in new areas for the business and collaborate closely with functional experts and senior leaders to build knowledge and execute new partnerships and ventures.

Candidates must have experience in deals, including the origination and execution of transactions and investments in support of identified strategies or strategy management development/application. Such experience will have been gained through external consulting/advisory roles in Strategy, Corporate Finance/M&A or Private Equity and/or in-house industry roles in Strategy/Corporate Development, ideally in an international industrial setting.

This is a hybrid working role that will be based in our Coventry office. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sustainable energy solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Support commercial innovation initiatives across the spectrum of corporate development activity.
  • Help deliver our strategy, supporting the identification, assessment and execution of potential financing, partnerships, transactions, and investments (e.g. M&A, JVs) and new commercial ventures.
  • Ability to conduct independent research to produce balanced and robust strategic insights for a wide range of topics and questions across the business, e.g. Strategic, commercial, legislative, operational and technical.
  • Understand where the value is in the development opportunity/partnership and how any transaction might work and be structured.
  • Support the development and delivery of presentations to senior stakeholders, providing clear data driven analysis and recommendations to support key strategic decisions at an Enterprise Level.
  • Maintain and develop high quality relationships with a broad range of internal subject matter experts (strategic, commercial, financial, operational, technical).
  • Develop commercial business cases, and bespoke innovative commercial/business models to optimise benefits and minimise risk.
  • Support financial modelling exercises to inform a range of commercial analyses.
  • Manage effective commercial due diligence exercises on potential targets and partners and drive post deal business and integration plans.
  • Support deal structuring and the negotiation of commercial terms and contracts.
  • Engage with stakeholders and external partners, representing the company with professionalism and confidence.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A professional/Advanced level qualification in either finance (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or business administration (MBA) would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Undertake complex strategic, commercial and financial analysis/modelling to inform commercial decision making.
  • Translate changes in the external environment into data-driven, strategic recommendations, creating structure and frameworks to assess complex questions.
  • Ability to innovate and think creatively to drive superior commercial outcomes.
  • Ability to interact with and manage a diverse internal & external network.
  • High degree of commercial acumen and ability to influence, including ability to support negotiations.
  • Ability to review, understand and provide commercial input to key partnership/transaction documents.
  • Ability to structure and manage complex cross-functional activities, projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
  • Highly organised, able to balance multiple projects, priorities and resources.
  • Ability to get things done in a fast paced, agile working environment.
  • PowerPoint and Excel modelling skills are essential.
  • Ability to work within a start-up culture where resilience and creativity are necessary in equal measure.
