GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organisations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonisation, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our team of experts providing technical support for Variable Speed Drives Systems with in-depth troubleshooting in the Marine, Naval, Steel and Power industries. Your duties will include creation of technical reports, advising on technical aspects of upgrades and performing hands-on repairs of GE equipment. You will support our installed base of systems in the UK and globally, both in the office and on-site when necessary. Time spent working while travelling is estimated to be 10-20%.

In This Role You Will Focus On:

  • Liaising with customers and field service engineers to resolve customers’ issues.
  • Identifying and/or implementing modifications to software and hardware.
  • Analysing diagnostic files.
  • Testing and configuration of hardware and software in our office laboratory.
  • Collaborating with fellow team members and the engineering/development teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Advising to our sales and quotations teams on the technical aspects of our bids for upgrades or new systems.
  • Helping to drive improvements in products, processes, and procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
  • Extensive experience with Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Good understanding of programming PLCs (ladder diagrams, functional block diagrams, structured text).
  • Previous hands-on experience of troubleshooting or commissioning industrial electrical drives systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and serial links, e.g. Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet etc.
  • Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
  • Valid passport to meet travel requirements.

Nice To Have:

  • Willingness and eligibility to work worldwide and offshore for short periods of time.
  • Previous commercial experience gained in the Marine, Naval, Power, or Steel industries.
  • Valid driver's license.
