Amey, a leading provider of engineering, operations, and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and facilities, is offering a permanent Bridge Engineer position within our Amey Consulting team. The role is based in Newcastle, with a flexible working arrangement including office visits and remote work.

Our Structures Team is involved in designing major civil engineering projects across Scotland, managing long-term contracts and diverse infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a Bridge Engineer/Structural Engineer, you will be involved in all project stages, from inception to completion, producing engineering solutions, managing project deliverables, supporting junior staff, and contributing to bids and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technically sound engineering solutions.
  • Manage project delivery from start to finish.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
  • Support and mentor junior staff.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and work-winning activities.
  • Promote health and safety standards.
  • Apply sustainability practices.
  • Manage multi-discipline infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in structures/bridge engineering, possibly from an Assistant Engineer role.
  • Ability to produce compliant, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of relevant software (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
  • Understanding of CDM, risk assessments, interface management.
  • Working towards Chartered status with ICE or IStructE.
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
