The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents aged 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital, and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness, and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery Workers, Teaching Assistants, Leadership/Management, and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council's Job Shop. Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Maths tutor with Coventry's highly successful Adult Education Service, where you will plan and deliver classes to adult learners at various locations within the city and online. You will be joining a team of highly experienced tutors who are very supportive of each other. There are opportunities for staff development and continuing professional development, and we aspire to be outstanding in the delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic maths tutor to plan and deliver functional skills classes at all levels from Entry level to Level 2. This will be in face-to-face classes or online. You may also be required to teach GCSE. You will need relevant Maths teaching experience in an adult learning environment, school, or college, up-to-date knowledge of Maths functional skills and GCSE, and teaching and subject qualifications at level 4/5. Experience of teaching Maths GCSE would be an advantage.
