We’re looking for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team in Reading. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Head of Engineering, leading a team of engineers, and keeping our plant and machinery running at peak performance.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong maintenance background—whether in manufacturing, facilities, warehousing, food production, or another industrial setting—who’s looking to step into a position with clear progression to Engineering Manager.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading planned and reactive maintenance across plant and equipment
- Supporting and mentoring a small team of engineers and assistants
- Working closely with production to minimise downtime
- Taking ownership of maintenance planning and spare parts inventory
- Stepping in for the Head of Engineering as needed in meetings and audits
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a busy industrial or commercial environment
- A team player with proven leadership or mentoring experience
- Technically strong, with good knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Forward-thinking and solutions-focused, with a desire to progress
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and cover call-outs when needed
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- 18th Edition (for electrical bias)
- Steam, gas or boiler qualifications (e.g. BOAS, COCN1) – an advantage
- IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety training – desirable

Shift Pattern (3-Week Rotation)
- Week 1 (Early): 05:00 – 14:00
- Week 2 (Standard): 07:30 – 16:30
- Week 3 (Late): 14:00 – 23:00
