The Role

We are undergoing an exciting time in our evolution and now seek an experienced and commercially focused Senior Business Applications Developer. Joining a Development Team of 5, you will work closely with the Head of Business Applications Development and the Development Director in this senior technical role to design, develop, and support all product developments across the Business Applications product portfolio with a core focus on the Dynamics 365 suite of applications and specific Business Central, helping us to shape and execute upon our growth strategy.

As a senior member of the development team, you will collaborate across the business to own and deliver commercially focused and best-in-market technical solutions to our growing and diverse client base. This role will draw on your past successes and experience of end-to-end development, innovative thinking, and product enhancement that leads to superior client outcomes. As we want to identify only the best talent to join our team, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work from home on a hybrid basis, whilst being within a commutable distance of one of the following office locations: Lisburn/Belfast, Bury St Edmunds, or London Farringdon. Infrequent travel to customer sites will also be required to meet the needs of the role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Client Requirements & Solution Design: Work in collaboration with the Commercial Team and Business Applications Consultants to deliver product demonstrations to clients. Act as the lead resource in conducting development discovery/scoping sessions with client stakeholders to understand their business needs and challenges. Translate client requirements into technical specifications and recommend suitable, technically viable solutions within the Dynamics 365 Business Central platform. Review innovative technologies to meet customer requirements as needed. Design and develop customizations, extensions, and integrations within Business Central to meet specific business requirements.
  • The Development Life Cycle: Write code using AL (Visual Studio Code) and C/AL (C/SIDE) to implement modifications, enhancements, and new functionalities. Configure and customize standard Business Central functionalities, including forms, reports, and workflows. Conduct thorough testing, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to ensure the quality and reliability of implemented functionalities. Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, user manuals, and change logs, in line with departmental standards. Work within agreed processes and timelines, managing change requests and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Product Support: Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Business Central environment, working closely with the Business Applications support team to address client issues. Assist with system upgrades, version migrations, and implementing new Microsoft-released features and functionalities.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and system administrators, to ensure seamless integration and implementation. Share technical expertise with team members and contribute to internal product and service knowledge.
  • Product Innovation: Collaborate with the Head of Applications Development and Development Director to develop our product roadmap and enhance the product catalogue. Actively seek out and recommend enhancements to the existing product portfolio, demonstrating innovative solution design in line with client needs.

Experience Required

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. At least 3 years' proven experience of Business Central/NAV, including: AL and C/AL coding. Designing and developing solutions within the Dynamics 365 Business Central platform. Customization, extensions, and integrations. Testing, debugging, and resolving technical issues. System upgrades and migrations. Demonstrable understanding of database management, with experience in SQL. Prior experience working within structured project management and change management processes. Proven ability to communicate at all levels within the organization. Ability to travel to NI/GB as required. Ability to live and work in the UK without Visa sponsorship.
  • Desirable: Experience in designing and developing solutions within the Power Platform. Previous experience in an IT/Professional Services organization.
