About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our team in the Prysmian UK Power Grids business. This leadership role is key in driving the commercial strategy, overseeing the delivery of management plans, and developing strategic relationships with our customers. The role will cover the management of our Commercial teams in the Power Grids business function. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in commercial management within the power sector, with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve business objectives. The Power Grid is seeing significant investment now and into the future as the transmission and distribution grid is enhanced to deliver the energy transition, connecting low carbon generation to rising electricity demand. We are looking for a person who is keen to show enthusiasm in contributing towards these targets. The focus is on “Business to Business” sales of low voltage to extra high voltage cables, accessories, installation, and maintenance services as we aim to develop lasting customer relationships with major Distribution Network Operators and Contractors who work in the Energy, Rail, and Renewable industries.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership ensuring that Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards are applied consistently throughout the business and remain a core part of our strategy development and customer engagement.
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy aligned with Prysmian's business goals and market trends, identifying where investments may be necessary to grow the business.
- Work with all Commercial Managers to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share through effective commercial initiatives.
- Monitor performance to objectives and adjust strategies as necessary, and support monthly forecasting processes in each of the Power Grids businesses.
- Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key customers and stakeholders, developing lasting relationships at all appropriate levels.
- Understand customer needs and future aspirations and how Prysmian can deliver a tailored solution from its Power Grids business.
- Provide strong leadership to the commercial teams, driving a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Oversee framework tenders and ad hoc quotations to deliver a result aligned to the strategy of the business.
- Understand pricing structures and contractual terms and conditions, bringing structure across the business to support day-to-day operations.
- Oversee contract negotiations and ensure agreements are favorable and compliant with company policies whilst maximizing profitability.
- Identify opportunities for product and services sales across departments within the Power Grids business, ensuring alignment of objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Successful candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant business or engineering discipline.
- Experienced in commercial management in a senior role, ideally in power, renewables, or a similar sector.
- Proven successful experience of building relationships in a complex environment across countries, cultures, functions, and levels to achieve business objectives.
- Ability to translate strategy into clear plans delivering results.
- Strong business acumen; negotiation; analysis; contractual and commercial skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant commercial software packages.
