Join Our People Team: HR Advisor Position Open at Heron Foods Store Support Centre in Melton (HU14 3HJ)! Are you passionate about people, problem-solving, and providing great advice? Heron Foods is looking for a HR Advisor to join our HR team at our Store Support Centre in Melton, near North Ferriby. This is an exciting opportunity to support over 340 retail stores by providing essential guidance on employee relations and HR best practice. With a salary of £29,942 and the opportunity to make a real difference in a business that continues to grow at pace, this role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills and a passion for supporting people managers in a fast-moving retail environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Be a first point of contact on the HR Advice Line, supporting store managers with HR queries such as absence, performance, investigations, and grievances.
- Manage long-term absence cases, including regular welfare calls, documentation, and occupational health referrals.
- Support colleagues by handling employee concerns sensitively and professionally.
- Liaise regularly with the Employee Relations Manager to coordinate priorities and ensure alignment across the HR function.
- Contribute to policy development and ensure documentation stays up to date and relevant.
- Support Line Managers by note-taking during calls and advising on HR processes.
- Manage shared inboxes and action HR queries in a timely manner.
Admin & Coordination Tasks
- Ensure HR letters and documentation are issued accurately and on time.
- Maintain HR systems, including TMS and internal ticketing platforms.
- Prepare and provide data for management information reports.
- Support the performance management process by collating paperwork and assisting managers with next steps.
- Prepare disciplinary and capability packs where required.
- Maintain accurate employee records and scan documentation to personal files.
Essential Skills, Experience and/or Qualifications
- An interest and willingness to understand employment law and proven administrative experience; preferably in a commercial environment.
- You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver a service to various field based managers.
- You will communicate well both verbally and in writing and will understand the need for confidentiality in dealing with all HR and training issues.
