Equans is looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake the water system planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance and other maintenance related activities to the Estate.
  • The responsibilities will mainly be at the Acute Hospital but may also include duties at the Retained Estate and Mental Health unit.
  • Perform the complete range of Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) tasks as required or directed by management.
  • Be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory, including HTM04-01, HSG274, ACoP and L8.
  • Have a knowledge of water systems within a commercial/healthcare environment and maintenance/testing activities.
  • Have a knowledge of Legionella and other water pathogens.
  • Undertake temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and disinfection, tank visual inspections, water samples, calorifier visual inspections, TMV servicing, to name a few.
  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to own trade, without supervision.
  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.

Who are we looking for?

  • NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing.
  • Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training.
  • Previous experience of working within a health care environment (desirable).

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
