We are looking for a Qualified MOT Tester / Vehicle Mechanic to maintain our own internal fleet of cars and vans alongside additional retail work. The successful applicant will ideally have DVSA Tester Certification in Classes 1, 2, 4 and 7; however, for the right candidate, we will look to supply additional training in any missing classes.
You will be working out of our newly purchased prime garage site in central Dorchester, which is being refurbished and fitted out with the latest MOT and diagnostic equipment to create a new outlet for our existing tyre business (GCS Tyreworld) along with an MOT Station for motorcycles, cars and light commercials up to 3.5t. We are currently investing in all the required specialist equipment to complement your own tools, and you will be responsible within a team for the maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet of light vehicles and commercial vans along with a wide variety of other company vehicles and retail work.
You will need the following:
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
- DVSA Tester Certification (1, 2, 4 and 7)
- Diagnostic Experience
- Air Conditioning Service Experience/Qualification
- Attention to detail
- Excellent Record Keeping
Responsibilities:
- Manage the MOT Bay and Bookings
- Team player willing to assist in carrying out light vehicle maintenance and repairs when not performing MOTs
- Act as a mentor to training staff
- Perform automotive diagnostics to identify issues and determine necessary repairs
- Utilise mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems, including air conditioning
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
Salary: £38,000 - £46,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.
