This international retailer is looking to recruit a commercial IP lawyer to join their legal team. Having overall responsibility for the global IP function, and reporting to the Head of Legal, this is a fast-paced and challenging role. It will encompass all areas of IP from Licensing to Trademarks and involves extensive negotiations around contract agreements with external brands.

The role will involve maintaining a substantial international trademark portfolio, advising on IP rights, IP protection (including all filings) as well as the licensing agreements. Where appropriate, there may be some IP litigation dealing with opposing filings or IP disputes.

Suitable candidates should be ready to operate at the Senior Counsel level. This means providing robust advice to the wider legal team and stakeholders across the business. Commercial acumen – the ability to understand, draft and negotiate relevant contracts well is key. Given the seniority of the role, we anticipate candidates will be upwards of 4-5 years pqe.

Candidates must be qualified lawyers or barristers and have an established track record across the IP space, ideally on an international basis. Candidates should come from top UK or US law firms or have worked in-house in a specialist IP advisory role.

The role is based on the outskirts of London/Hertfordshire and offers one day a week working from home.
