We have an exciting new opportunity to join an existing team with ambitious growth plans in the southwest as an associate or associate partner development surveyor in our multi-disciplinary Bristol hub office. Working as a part of a burgeoning planning and development business serving Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and the wider southwest region, the role offers a variety of consultancy, agency and strategic land work, and will allow you to actively contribute to the growth and direction of the Bristol team.

The role will play a key part in the overall team, working closely with both the Planning and Development partners in the wider business and will be responsible for growing the team around them. The role offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including 25 days annual leave, pension contribution and life assurance. Main tasks:

  • You will provide clear advice in relation to residential, mixed use and strategic development land for our private and public sector clients, who range from private landowners to charitable institutions and corporate clients.
  • You will assist in generating fees through dealing with a variety of planning and development matters, enhancing existing client relationships and securing new clients.
  • You will be capable of handling all matters associated with strategic and immediate development land opportunities and will help clients with the delivery of development projects.
  • Main tasks will include:
  • Disposal and acquisition of strategic land and immediate development opportunities
  • Advise on planning and development strategies, including formal reports and the assessment of alternative land use values
  • Undertake development appraisal work, including the identification of development opportunities
  • Provide valuation advice on land and property assets, including the financial appraisal of development sites
  • Support with the negotiation of development agreements to include promotion, option, joint venture and conditional contracts
  • Assist with major residential-led mixed use development schemes

What will it take to be successful?

  • You will be RICS chartered surveyor with post qualification experience within development consultancy and agency.
  • You will be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of development appraisals, advisory and disposal work.
  • It is also essential that you will be able to provide written option assessments and transactional advice and be competent in Argus Developer (or equivalent).
  • As an Associate/Associate Partner, you will be an excellent team player and be forward thinking with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • You will have excellent communication skills to develop client relationships as well as support and cross sell with colleagues internally.
  • You will be expected to work alongside an established team of planning consultants and with our Head of Planning in Bristol.
  • You will report to partners responsible for our development services across the wider southern region.
  • This will be an opportunity for a development surveyor to form part of a growing team over the longer-term, and as such presents an opportunity for an ambitious individual.
  • A full driving license will be required for this role as regular travel to sites is expected.
