Overview
How You\βll Make a Difference As an Administrator for the Business Support team, you will provide a fully comprehensive business and administration service to the Social Care team in North Locality, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements of the department in a constantly changing environment. Our team makes a real difference, working alongside professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people within South Gloucestershire. Your work helps the team, council and other partner agencies to support and safeguard vulnerable families in the community.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for the service area and provide effective communication when dealing with enquiries and information requests.
- Provide administrative support to managers, ensuring work is efficient and procedures are effectively implemented. This includes minute taking for key meetings.
- Learn to research information within your area of service specialism and collate evidence for presentation in reports, including drafting sections of documents for use by others.
- Collate and maintain records and analyse information to ensure accurate statements are produced and data are retrieved from computerised systems and interpreted.
- Communicate specific concerns, queries and issues and ensure they are accurately and promptly relayed when necessary.
- Record and assist in the monitoring and maintaining of budgets, financial information and resources.
What We Need From You (Qualifications & Skills)
- Hold an NVQ 2 or 3 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, or an equivalent qualification or relevant experience in office administration.
- Ability to take and type accurate minutes of meetings and format documents to a high standard.
- Effective communication with customers, professionals and partnership agencies using a variety of media (email, phone, face to face).
- Strong IT skills with practical application, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintaining computerised record systems.
- Experience with databases, including running standard reports, analysing data and presenting findings, plus basic financial procedures (petty cash, invoicing).
- Experience dealing with challenging calls from and to young people regarding life skills and life experiences (not essential).
What You Need To Know
- This is a limited term contract, due to end 27 February 2027.
- Your salary is pro-rated to hours worked.
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our Patchway Hub office and from home.
