The Area Technical Supervisor role is a critical field-based role focused on conducting health and safety audits, quality control inspections, and site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements at Calor customer sites and installations. The role also includes managing contractor and installer panels, providing technical guidance, investigating customer complaints, and managing emergency responses. Additionally, the supervisor will support our sales teams with cost-efficient technical solutions and manage high-risk liquid installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out Health and Safety Audits, Quality Control Inspections of Calor Contractors, Installers and other Calor Contractors work in the Customer Engineering Sector, Bulk Tank, Cylinder and Company owned Installations.
  • Carry out Site Inspections of Company owned Metered Supply Installation Projects and the maintenance of Bulk Tanks and Company owned equipment at customer sites to ensure compliance with Regulatory requirements.
  • Act as key safety exemplar within the business to drive the requisite positive cultural shift across contractor base to enhance safety performance in line with safety strategy objectives.
  • Development, training and management of an effective Contractor and Installer Panel to service all sectors of the LPG Market (up to 30 Contractors / Installers per Supervisor).
  • Onboarding of Contractors and Installers to support Calor’s Business & Safety Strategy in accordance with Calor’s Life Saving Rules.
  • Provision of necessary technical guidance on LPG installations and control systems to the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland inspectorate as required.
  • Investigation and resolution of Appliance / Installation related Customer complaints in consultation with Equipment Suppliers and Service Providers.
  • Inspection and Certification of Company and Customer owned Installations.
  • Receiving and coordinating response to all After Hours Emergency Calls (24/7).
  • Managing the Company owned Metered Distribution Sites Out of Hours Emergency Response to meet The Commission for Regulations of Utilities (CRU) Criteria.
  • Managing and conducting In Field Audits with CRU.
  • Investigating Incidents at Customer premises and preparation of associated Reports including Incident Investigation Reports.
  • Technical Representation for Calor on Legal cases taken through the Courts process.
  • Providing technical advice and support to Contractors, Installers, Customer and Field Sales Staff in consultation with Customer Engineering and Business Development Teams.
  • Provide technical solutions to the business and the wider LPG industry based on safety, compliance and LPG experience.
  • Develop and implement innovative Stakeholder management Technical solutions to meet Calor and Customer Installation requirements.
  • Supporting Sales with cost efficient technical solutions for large Commercial and Industrial Customers and identifying cost saving engineering solutions when required.
  • Management of Regulatory Bodies Field Queries / Correspondence and requests eg CRU, Fire Authority, Health and Safety Authority, Register of Gas Installers of Ireland, Consultants etc.
  • Managing and maintenance of High risk Liquid Installations (Auto Gas, Vapourisers, Forklift Truck Filling).
  • Ability to manage and positively influence Key Stakeholders relevant to the Customer Engineering function.
  • Proactively manage the cost control elements of in field Customer Engineering projects/activities to ensure that budgetary requirements are adhered to.
  • Assist the Customer Engineering Manager in the development of Customer Engineering budgetary targets to ensure safety critical projects are suitably prioritized.
  • Diligent safety and technical process design and adherence.
  • Convert technical requirements into realistic and achievable action plans.

Requirements:

  • Registered Gas installer
  • At least 8 years work experience in installation and maintenance Oil & Gas projects
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Standards relevant to the sector and capability to identify compliant cost-effective solutions in line with sectoral best practice
  • Excellent knowledge and application of I.S. Gas Standards 3216, 3213, 813, 820, 265, and 329.
