Head Medical are seeking post foundation trainees (RMO/SHO/CT) possessing a minimum of six months experience within Psychiatry for opportunities located in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. These positions are fantastic for trainees considering the psychiatry career pathway; experience working in a different healthcare system, enjoy a diverse clinical case-load, be part of a multi-disciplinary team, and gain exposure to Māori health.
Work in one of the largest provincial hospitals in NZ (400 bed). Affordable housing and excellent schools, ideal for families. Beautiful beaches and stunning hill country to explore; music, wine and food festivals; art deco architecture; cycling, paddle-boarding, boating, golfing, and so much more! Relocation support provided to those able to commit to a minimum 12-month contract term. Salary $110,710 - $121,920 NZD (depending on experience).
The Hospital: You will be based in a large secondary level, 400 bed accredited public hospital providing acute and elective care for a region of over 162,000 people. It is modern with a full range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services. In addition, outreach services are provided at rural and community-based facilities across the region in Wairoa and Waipukurau. Mental Health Services are centred around two large community teams providing Child, Adolescent and Family Service, Home Based Treatment, Maternal Mental Health, Te Ara Manapou, Consultation-Liaison, Emergency Mental Health teams, Older Persons and Addiction services. The in-patient unit is on the Regional Hospital campus in Hastings and features high and medium intensity treatment areas as well as an intensive day treatment unit. Local residential addictions treatment service is provided in Napier and an opioid substitution programme is provided in both major population centres.
Location: The Hawke’s Bay region (pop.162,000) is set on the beautiful East Coast of the North Island. Live in Hastings (pop.80,000) or the art-deco city of Napier (63,000) and enjoy all the lifestyle benefits that this region brings. Home to an array of gourmet restaurants, bars and cafes; the beautiful surrounding scenery featuring Te Mata Peak and Waimarama Beach; the fantastic bike trails down to Cape Kidnappers, not to mention the premier golf courses with views across the Pacific Ocean; as well as the music, wine and food festivals; and urban farmer’s markets – there is something here to suit everyone. The climate with its high sunshine hours, lends itself beautifully to winemaking. The vineyards are famous for their red, white and specialty wines to complement any dish. The local airport in Hastings features regular daily 1-hour flights to Auckland and Wellington International Airports, making connections to/from NZ very easy.
