As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you would join a passionate team committed to delivering the highest quality of care for patients. You will be part of and support a learning environment for staff members. It’s a great opportunity to be part of a supportive team. As RC, you will have the support of a Medical Secretary and Specialist Doctor.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure clients receive holistic, person-centered care based on the recovery model. You will also provide high-quality clinical care within the hospital services. You will have opportunities for regular career development to keep your practice relevant. You’ll have access to excellent CPD and a large peer group of enthusiastic, high-caliber consultants.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and developing a therapeutic milieu.
  • Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Providing psychiatric assessments, formulations, and treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contributing to management and clinical governance meetings and service strategy development.
  • Participating in in-house training programs and supervising junior medical staff.
  • Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists or relevant bodies.
  • Being part of an on-call RC rota.

To be successful, you will:

  • Be medically qualified, with an MRC Psych or equivalent.
  • Be innovative and able to initiate corporate decisions.
  • Have a good understanding of current developments in psychiatry and mental health.
  • Possess knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, and contemporary mental health issues.
  • Have previous experience in a management role as a Consultant.
