Net zero is fast approaching and reducing carbon emissions, leaving fossil fuels behind, and finding alternative solutions is now a top priority for the UK. Building on our award-winning heat network solutions, we are now also offering a solution which uses a shared ground loop with individual Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) in the home. At Metropolitan, our vision is to make zero carbon heating straightforward for all and we’re searching for a talented Senior Engineer to help us achieve that.
About you
We’re looking for an individual with the drive and passion to deliver the most efficient and sustainable shared ground loop solution for our customers. You’ll ideally have experience of shared ground loops with individual home GSHP and be working your way towards Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate professional institution. As a minimum, you will need to have had experience in an engineering role involving the use of individual heat pumps in homes or centralised GSHP. You’ll be a creative problem solver with great attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will have good commercial awareness and knowledge of project management and contract management procedures.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take the next step in their career and you can look forward to:
- Delivery of engineering new shared ground loop heat solutions and decarbonising existing systems.
- Designing and reviewing designs of shared ground loop systems at all stages across their lifecycle from inception through commercial operation.
- Undertaking modelling of the technical and commercial aspects of shared ground loop and individual GSHP plant operations.
- Advising on incorporation of innovations and new products into new systems.
- Supporting collaborative client and contractor relationships.
- Undertaking site inspections, snagging, and witness of commissioning for assets being built ahead of adoption or handover from our contractors.
- Assisting with the development of project budgets and estimates, ensuring designs meet requirements.
- Reviewing design software used in the development of heat network design and implementing Standards and Procedures.
- Supporting development of others within the team and developing your management skills.
