GTA is currently seeking a Field Geologist with up to 3 years of experience to join our team in Abingdon, MD. Individuals in this position will work under senior geotechnical staff and may assist in higher-level tasks or project management within the Construction Observation and Testing (COT) group as needed.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Coordinate and manage drilling projects
- Coordinate and review laboratory testing
- Prepare geotechnical reports, or pertinent sections thereof
- Perform routine calculations, including settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, slope stability, etc. under the observation of senior staff
- Design and prepare construction plans for retaining walls and other structures under the supervision of senior staff
- Provide a variety of other observation and testing services for geotechnical and construction observation and testing projects as you support engineers for a diverse client base in the private and public sectors
You must own a reliable vehicle, have a good driving record, like working with people, and enjoy working outdoors. GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology; EIT preferred but not required
- Own Transportation, valid driver's license and Good Driving Record
- Willing and able to work the hours necessary to meet the demands of the workload or to complete any assigned projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Slide2 and VESPA design software experience preferred

Range - $50,000 - $60,000 annually
