Job Description

Job Title: NOC / Firewall Engineer
Location: Leeds (3 days per week on-site)
Rate: £320 per day (Outside IR35)
Engagement: Full-Time Contract
Reports To: Network Operations Manager / Head of Managed Services

We are seeking a skilled NOC / Firewall Engineer with hands-on experience in Check Point, Fortinet, or Palo Alto Networks technologies.

Role Overview

In this role, you'll be an integral part of our Network Operations Center (NOC), supporting critical client infrastructure across multiple environments. You'll be responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining network security devices, responding to incidents, and ensuring high availability and performance of network services.

This is a hands-on, technical role suited to an experienced network security professional who excels in a dynamic, client-facing support environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage firewalls, VPNs, and network infrastructure across client environments using centralized monitoring tools.
  • Perform security policy changes, firewall rule modifications, NAT and routing updates across Check Point, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, performance, and security-related issues.
  • Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests in line with defined SLAs, escalating where necessary.
  • Conduct regular health checks and maintenance on firewall appliances and supporting infrastructure.
  • Accurately document changes, incidents, and resolutions using internal ticketing systems.
  • Liaise with internal SOC, engineering, and professional services teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Support onboarding activities for new clients and infrastructure into the managed service environment.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience with Check Point, Fortinet, or Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, VPN technologies, and firewall configuration best practices.
  • Experience working within a 24/7 NOC or similar operational environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in a client-facing capacity.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCSA, NSE4, PCNSE) are desirable.
