Anderson Knight are seeking a highly experienced, operationally focused Business Improvement Engineer to lead on the end-to-end development of SOPs, process maps, and supporting documentation. This role is fully delivery-focused. The successful candidate will need to embed rapidly into live operations, extract process detail, and translate this into structured documentation that is immediately usable and compliant. This role supports both current operations and future system readiness. Outputs will include ISO-aligned SOPs, Visio process diagrams, and digital-ready training content. Strong Microsoft Office skills and a clear grasp of BSI frameworks (especially ISO 9001, 45001, and ideally 14001) are essential. This role is open to candidates who prefer Interim/Contract as well as Permanent.

Candidate Profile:

  • Someone who can deliver immediate value and take ownership of process documentation from day one.
  • Extensive hands-on experience documenting business-critical SOPs and work instructions.
  • Proven success delivering in fast-paced, service-led operational environments.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite β€” particularly:
  • Word (SOP formatting and structure)
  • Excel (supporting registers, control logs)
  • Visio (mandatory for clear, automation-ready process maps)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Implementer or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor with a deep understanding of ISO 9001 quality frameworks (BSI-aligned).
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and working knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental), with future contributions expected.
  • Experience developing training materials using tools like Canva or similar digital platforms.
  • Ability to produce concise, indexed, well-structured document systems ready for digital transition.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder interview skills to extract and interpret real-time operational activity.
  • Highly organised and comfortable working autonomously across concurrent deliverables.
  • Preferred background in transport or logistics.
  • Core Responsibilities:

    • Capture undocumented or outdated operational processes through staff engagement.
    • Write and structure SOPs and work instructions using defined templates.
    • Map each process using Microsoft Visio with clarity and consistency for future automation.
    • Create training materials from SOPs using Canva or another digital content tool.
    • Align all outputs to ISO 9001 requirements (45001 and 14001 where applicable).
    • Ensure all documentation is indexed, controlled, and IMS-ready.
    • Support cross-region harmonisation of SOPs into a centralised management system.
    • Prepare systems and structures to enable smooth transition into a digital document management platform.

    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ direct experience in SOP development and process documentation.
    • Familiarity with call centre or service-co-ordination business models.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Visio.
    • Practical knowledge of BSI ISO 9001 (mandatory), 45001 (preferred), and 14001 (beneficial).
    • Process mapping, document versioning, and controlled document management.
    • Experience creating structured and scalable training content.
    • Ability to audit and improve document systems for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
    • ISO 9001 Lead Implementer or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or equivalent certification.
