About the Role
We are looking for a technically minded and commercially astute Applications Engineer to join a renowned engineering business. In this role, you will take full ownership of the quotation process from initial scoping, site visits and taking measurements, right through to the production of tailored technical proposals for large-scale system installations. Projects typically include 30+ integrated components, with values ranging from £100,000 to £3 million.
Key Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer:
- Lead the end-to-end quotation process for complex recycling system packages
- Conduct site visits weekly to scope requirements and take site measurements
- Build modular equipment quotations
- Manage the full lifecycle of a quote from initial scoping to handover back to sales
- Ensure quotations are financially accurate, technically viable, and competitively timed
What We're Looking For:
- Prior experience producing technical quotations in complex equipment involving modular systems, ideally within sectors such as waste recycling, food processing systems, quarrying, or surface finishing
- Strong understanding of system layouts, equipment interaction, and project scoping
- Confident interpreting 2D CAD drawings and engineering documentation
- Personable and professional with strong communication skills
- Capable of working autonomously to build proposals from limited initial information
- Comfortable in client-facing environments and on-site technical discussions
