Copello are recruiting for a Systems Engineering Lead to join a defence organisation on an initial 12 month contract to provide systems and engineering design expertise across a legacy project. The Systems Engineering Lead will be working within a large project providing technical design decisions across a multidisciplinary team, ensuring delivery of the programme.

Duties of the Systems Engineering Lead include:

  • Working with the Senior Programme Management team to define and manage risks within the delivery of the programme, ensuring that budgets and schedules are adhered to.
  • Working with the Project Manager to provide inputs to plans and work package planning.
  • Support and/or lead design reviews with the end customer, as well as leading parallel internal reviews with the Engineering VP.
  • Work with Systems Design Authority to provide direct design, development and supply chain tasks to the Electronic Leads and Project Managers.
  • Providing key inputs into integration and test planning activities to validate system design.

The Systems Engineering Lead will require the following skills and experience:

  • Experience within large defence programmes across RF, Electronic Warfare, Datalinks or Comms.
  • Experience of working within a senior role, ideally with some man-management experience.
  • Strong communicator who is comfortable reporting to senior and executive level stakeholders.
  • Technical understanding of product and systems full lifecycle.
  • Understanding of design and integration of complex electronics or RF Systems.
  • Comfortable working towards agreed project milestones and budgets.

Due to the nature of the project, candidates will require current SC clearance or eligibility for SC. This role will require 3/4 days a week onsite. The project is initially around 12 months with the opportunity for it to be extended. This role will be inside IR35 and is offering a highly competitive rate.
