At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Project Engineer at our Hinkley Point C site. This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance works across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.

The role involves driving the delivery of assigned small projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures. Day-to-day, you’ll support the Project Manager with activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. You will work with and support a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a common objective.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Project Manager to define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
  • Preparing and maintaining project documentation including Project Definition Document, Project Brief, Quality Plans, and other documents as required.
  • Anticipating, managing and resolving issues within the contract or package.
  • Identifying risks and facilitating the resolution of all issues raised, developing and updating the programme budget, and escalating any issues to the Project Manager.
  • Identifying, implementing and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing documentation including contractors documents and drawings.
  • Collaborating with contractors and area owners across site to facilitate project delivery.
  • Leading site meetings, walkdowns to review design proposals, capture design risks and changes.

This role is full time OR part time, 38 hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater.

Essential experience includes:

  • Experience in project delivery and knowledge of Project Management principles (APM).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including Construction Design Management and Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Proficient in preparing reports and information using software packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working in a construction environment.

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
