Job Description:
The primary role of a Team Manager in the Children & Families Service is to improve the welfare, safety, and outcomes of the children and young people supported by the team.
Under the supervision of a Service Manager or Head of Service, the Team Manager manages a statutory service to children in need, including those in need of protection, children in care, young offenders, and care leavers, following relevant policies and guidance.
The Team Manager is accountable for the quality of practice and performance in assessments, planning, and review, leading a multidisciplinary team of practitioners. They develop a learning and performance culture, support team members\’ wellbeing, and ensure effective partnership working with local agencies.
The role includes providing supervision, mentoring, coaching, and appraisal to team members, supporting their health and wellbeing, and holding them accountable for practice quality. The Team Manager deputizes for the Service Manager as needed, supports inspection readiness, and represents the team in improvement groups.
