About the Role
We are seeking an experienced MEP Manager to lead Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering activities for data centre projects across London and the UK.
This is a permanent, hands-on leadership role ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional passionate about delivering critical infrastructure with best-in-class standards.
You will oversee design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all MEP systems, ensuring projects meet strict reliability, safety, and efficiency requirements essential for data centre operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all MEP engineering and installation activities across multiple data centre projects
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality, compliant MEP solutions
- Manage and review MEP designs ensuring compliance with industry standards and data centre best practices
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems including HVAC, power distribution, fire suppression, and backup generators
- Ensure maintenance and operational readiness of MEP systems for data centre uptime and reliability
- Develop project schedules, manage budgets, and allocate resources effectively
- Liaise with stakeholders including clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project delivery
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary MEP team
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols onsite
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) managing MEP engineering projects in data centres or similarly complex critical environments
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems relevant to data centres, including HVAC, UPS systems, emergency power, fire suppression, and building management systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and budget adherence
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Familiarity with UK construction regulations, safety standards, and data centre industry best practices (TIA-942, BREEAM, LEED, etc.)
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or HND)
- Professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, IMechE, or IET membership) preferred
- Proficient in project management tools and engineering software
- Willingness to travel occasionally across UK sites
