Senior Structural Engineer – Stockport

Opportunity : Senior Structural Engineer Location : Stockport Position type: Permanent Rate : Negotiable and Competitive A vacancy exists for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in the Building Structures division in Stockport. The role involves managing and delivering projects under the guidance of experienced directors. There are opportunities to take on responsibilities suitable to your experience. The work involves varied and challenging building structures projects for both public and private sector clients. The Senior Structural Engineer role requires a ‘hands-on’ approach and the application of professional engineering knowledge and skills to steer the direction of projects. Duties will involve the preparation of feasibility studies, concept and scheme design reports, design calculations (a working knowledge of Eurocodes is desired), preparation of contract documents and specifications, and supervision of contractors. The role may also involve undertaking project management tasks for certain projects and dealing with clients. Specific objectives include: To provide high-level technical services. To provide support, training, and guidance to other staff. To develop and retain specialist knowledge. Reporting to the building structures director and managing graduates/junior members of staff. Experience of working in a structures design consultancy office is essential, typically with at least 5 years of practical design experience. Chartered Engineer status is desired. Qualities: Self-motivated and enthusiastic. Capable of operating with minimal supervision. Seeking an increasing level of responsibility. Client-facing skills and building client relationships.
