Senior Earthing Design Engineer Join Belcan Workforce Solutions as a Senior Earthing Design Engineer in the Transmission & Distribution sector for a leading UK construction and regeneration group. This permanent, hybrid role can be based in London, Warwick, Manchester, or Derby. Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the HV Discipline Lead, the Senior Earthing Design Engineer ensures quality and consistency in studies, drawings, and technical documents. Collaborate with the Power Sector Director during the bid process to secure new projects. Produce designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV substation projects (11kV – 400kV), including single line diagrams, schematics, and earthing layouts. Manage project deliverables, support CAD technicians, and oversee the development of drawings. Guide junior engineers and CAD technicians, ensuring their growth and development. Qualifications: Minimum BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering with a Power/HV background; MEng/MSc preferred. Experience in software packages like CDEGS, MathCAD, and ETAP. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally working toward CEng status and CDAE accreditation by National Grid. General Skills: Prepare and approve feasibility studies, technical reports, and design drawings. Manage teams and external suppliers, ensuring delivery within budget and specifications. Provide updates to the Business Development Tracker and support recruitment efforts. Understand IEC standards and be proficient with technical specifications from clients like National Grid, SSE N, Scottish Power, UKPN, WPD, ENWL, etc. Technical Skills and Experience: Deliver primary design requirements, including earthing layouts, single line diagrams, and earthing schematics. Conduct earthing studies, earth potential rise (EPR) calculations, and step and touch potential assessments. Develop team-specific standards to ensure consistency and quality of output. Participate in Design & HAZID reviews and manage the adherence to document control procedures.
