MERJE are delighted to be partnered with a dynamic and fast-growing international humanitarian charity in their search for a talented Senior Financial Accountant based in West Yorkshire. This is a hybrid role (3 days office, 2 days WFH) from 9am to 5.30pm. This is a pivotal senior role within the organisation.

You will lead on financial accounting, regulatory reporting, systems implementation, and data-driven performance analysis. The successful candidate will provide leadership across the finance function, support strategic decision-making, and ensure robust financial control, reporting, and forecasting across UK and global operations. You will be a key business partner to senior management, a mentor to the finance team, and act as a critical support and deputy to the Director of Finance.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, statutory accounts preparation, and audit coordination.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering background.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to manipulate large datasets.
  • Experience producing financial insights through dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI desirable).
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
  • Experience with financial systems implementation and process improvement.
  • Strong understanding of charity finance, SORP, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at senior levels.
Desirable:
  • Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
  • Familiarity with international operations and currency consolidation.
  • Understanding of UK Charity tax.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups, including Trustees.
  • Exposure to Salesforce, particularly in a finance or donor management context.
