We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer, who will be using your varied technology skills to support, maintain and manage the diverse technologies supported by the infrastructure systems team. The infrastructure systems team are responsible for the lifecycle management of compute and storage platforms that underpin our highly demanding products and services.

The global environment is varied and complex, incorporating bare metal, virtualised, and containerised Windows and Linux workloads, both on private and public cloud. As an Engineer with previous evidence of support, management and exposure across diverse areas of technology, you will play an integral part in improving the day-to-day operational efficiency and predictability of our systems.

Working on cross-functional infrastructure solutions, helping with business continuity management exercises, problem investigations, incident resolution and system builds, whilst striving for continuous improvement. You will be required to provide out of hours support on a rota basis, which may also require weekend in office presence from time to time. This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred skills and experience:
  • Exposure to Linux including Ubuntu, Red Hat derivatives or/and Windows system administration.
  • Experience in the use of virtual infrastructures including using VROps, vCenter and vSphere.
  • Experience in the use of file and object storage technologies is an advantage.
  • Fundamental understanding of networking, load balancing, enterprise FC storage, tiering and virtualisation.
  • Self-motivation to investigate and resolve issues across the systems technology stack.
  • Effective time management, organisation and work prioritisation to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Logical approach to solving problems under pressure.
  • Ability to be an active communicator on technical issues.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with technology specialists to fix issues and deliver platform enhancements.
  • Recognising areas for continuous improvement and opportunities for automation.
  • Supporting, maintaining, building and managing platforms, systems and storage.
  • Defining and enhancing system monitoring using modern tooling and practices.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers to transfer knowledge and skill across the team.
  • Participating in an on-call support rota for technical escalation.
