We are pleased to advertise a permanent Assistant Psychologist position in our Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU) at UHNM acute hospital. The ACCU has expanded its multidisciplinary team (MDT) rehabilitation services across the care pathway, including in-patients, ward follow-up, and outpatient clinics. This expansion involves providing psychological support for patients, staff wellbeing, and support for families and carers.

This transformation has facilitated the development of our specialist Critical Care Psychology Team, comprising a Consultant Psychologist, Principal Psychologists, Senior Clinical Psychologist, and Assistant Psychologists. We seek a skilled and motivated assistant psychologist to support the delivery of psychological services across the care pathway.

Core Features of the Role:

  • Providing structured interventions to manage low mood and anxiety under supervision
  • Providing psycho-education to patients at risk of future psychological distress
  • Administering and evaluating assessment and screening tools and outcome measures
  • Assisting with service development and evaluation

Previous experience working with adults with physical or mental health problems is essential. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is advantageous. The role involves supporting and enhancing psychological care by conducting assessments and interventions under supervision, working independently within agreed plans and team policies. Additional duties include administrative support, audits, statistics collection, research, teaching, and project work.

Our Trust is committed to service and system transformation to improve health and wellbeing through high-quality care. We prioritise team wellbeing, offering flexible working arrangements. We are dedicated to the Greener NHS initiative to become the world’s first carbon net zero health system by 2045, embedding sustainability into our strategy. Our "Proud to be Green" campaign aligns with these goals, and we support staff in working towards our net zero ambitions.

We value diversity and inclusivity and welcome applications from under-represented groups, including women, disabled individuals, those from global majority backgrounds, and LGBTQ+ communities.
