1956 Individuals are a business to business product that was born out of the interactive technology that we created as part of our video game project within SKC Games Studio. Essentially they are interactive fully customisable characters that can be given knowledge to interact with and educate people across a diverse range of industries and settings.

Opportunity
1956 Individuals are looking for a Unity Technical Artist who can ensure content is feasible and optimised for an upcoming projects. The Technical Artist will guide the content production pipelines and help maintain performance. This includes developing shaders, workflows and ensuring that art meets both the high visual quality required and performance targets. The ideal candidate proactively seeks opportunities to elevate the look and feel of the project, embraces constructive feedback, and thrives in a highly collaborative and open environment. You\’ll be doing this:
- Collaborate with the Art Director, Game Designers and Programmers to develop and implement high quality art assets.
- Implement and optimize shader functionality, lighting, and special effects in Unity with knowledge of C# shader scripts.
- The ability to create and modify shaders via Unity’s shader graph.
- Post processing effects with particular focus on volumes, as well as familiarity with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline and High-Definition Render pipelines.
- Build and maintain asset pipelines and workflows to ensure efficient and effective production of high-quality game assets.
- Optimise game performance by guiding the artists in enhancing techniques for optimising and streamlining the game engine.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues related to game assets, effects, and technical features while providing feedback, documentation and guidance to other team members.
- Drives tech art standards and ensures all content is meeting technical specifications while hitting the art direction criteria.
- Support the team during prototyping and problem-solving technical challenges.
And you\’ll need this:
- Hands on experience in Unity
- 3-5 years’ experience working as a Technical Artist in a game development studio.
- Proficiency in Unity, with experience in developing games or experiences for AR/VR, PC, or console platforms.
- Experience with creating shaders, lighting, and special effects in Unity.
- Knowledgeable in character animation tech dependencies.
- Good understanding of optimization techniques and robust memory budget management.
- Portfolio showcasing rigs, tools, scripts together with documentation.
- Great knowledge of end-to-end art creation applications (Maya, Blender, Substance, Z-brush, Houdini).
- Strong understanding of the latest 3D art production workflows and techniques.
- Passionate about gaming, with a deep understanding of different game genres and art styles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired but non-essential:
- Mastery in C# and Python.
- Created tools in Blender.
- Technical Animation Skills (Rigging, skinning, scripting)
- Experience with JIRA
