We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer or Engineer level S278 Engineer to support the continuing success of our Birmingham office. As an Engineer within the Civils Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of schemes, ranging from small highway improvements to large residential and commercial developments. Typical designs include access junction forms such as roundabouts, signalised junctions, ghost-island right turns, and simple priority junctions. This role offers a chance to develop within a strategically important sector of our business, with projects from small developments to large-scale schemes involving 150 to 5000 residential units and supporting infrastructure.
Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with experience in designing access junctions, from concept to detailed design. Passion and experience in designing LTN1/20 compliant cycling infrastructure schemes are desirable. Additional desirable skills include 3D modelling, drainage design, and delivering Section 278 detailed designs, with knowledge of local authority and National Highways processes.
Required knowledge and experience include:
- National design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN1/20, NRSWA)
- Adoption agreements for roads and drainage (S278, S38, S104)
- Software proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Vehicle Tracking, KeyLINES/SIGN/POST, and Flow
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Mentoring junior staff and producing technical reports
- Experience in public realm design, active travel, cycling infrastructure, highways, utilities coordination, site monitoring, or bid proposal development is advantageous.
